Port of Bari
The port of Bari is located in the northwest of the old city and its borders are included to the west from the pier San Cataldo and east by the new Foraneo pier. Located south-east of Italy, and traditionally considered Europe's door to the Balkan Peninsula and the Middle East, it is a multipurpose airport able to meet all operational requirements. The operating multifunctionality of the Port of Bari can count on docks equipped for handling all kinds of goods and an excellent network of connections with all modes of transport. Thanks to such features the Port of Bari has been indicated as the "Western" terminal of the "Corridor 8", the director multimodal trans-European connecting southern Europe to the Black Sea through Albania, Macedonia and Bulgaria.
The port of Bari is a multi-purpose port: in its basin, of about 285 hectares, are in fact included:
- Docks equipped for all types of commercial traffic (solid and liquid bulk, containers, packaged goods, steel products, forest products etc.).
- Quays in the service of ro-ro ferry;
- Docks for cruise ships and related accommodations for cruise passengers;
In addition to those operating in the port, in its immediate vicinity, there are a refrigerator for storage of frozen and deep-frozen products and a large area of the containers to the service for storage, repair, filling / emptying etc.
The versatility of the port, a legacy of the mercantile vocation of the Bari people, is now facilitated by its direct connection to the rail network and road and highway ones, which allow rapid access to all the industrial centers in Southern Italy agricultural and commercial.
This fact, together with the assortment of infrastructure, it has preserved in Bari on the role of one of the most important commercial ports in the South relations with the markets of the Balkan Peninsula and the Middle East its natural markets to ancient tradition.
The current development of operational docks is about 2,500 ml but spaces are close to 260,000 square meters large. At the end of the ongoing work to achieve, in the south-west of the basin, filled Marisabella you will have a further 1000 meters of quay with depths of 12.5 meters as well as 350,000 square meters of space for cargo storage and parking of vehicles.
Due to its geographical position has an eminently connecting ro-ro traffic with the other Adriatic side, the Balkan peninsula separated by a strait of only 200 kilometers. With so near an area that includes countries such as Croatia, the Yugoslav Federation, Albania, Romania, Bulgaria and Moldova, the Port of Bari, which reaches to the European Turkey, has a total of about 70 million people potentially linked to 'Apulian economy.
Port of Barletta
The Port of Barletta is ranked second class, first class. Houses and industrial traffic, as provided in the Operational Plan Triennial  of the Port Authority of the Levant, July 21, 2009 has been activated the first traghettuale line for passenger service between the ports of Durres and Barletta. It is a totally artificial basin bordered by two asymmetrical and converging piers, one west and one dilevante, 450 meters away from the entrance. The piers are placed at a minimum distance to the mouth of 450 meters between them; the backdrops are made of sand and mud, they reach a maximum depth of 6.60 meters and allow the berthing of vessels with a total length of 165 meters.  The east pier is not currently operating, therefore all port operations carry on to the west which is divided into four arms:
- dock arm of the west;
- Central Pier arm;
- First pier arm of the north;
- the second arm of the north jetty.
The seabed of the harbor basin consists of sand and mud. It is one of the most appreciated of the 'Adriatic breadth of pelvis and security. Thanks to the numerous industrial settlements in the territories neighboring the port is a major point of commercial exchange.
Currently the port is specialized in the trade of a large variety of goods of which the most important from a commercial point of view are as follows:
- dry bulk materials, such as concrete, stone, sand, clay;
- substances food dry bulk cargo, such as grain, salt, flour;
- chemicals such as fertilizer, polyethylene;
- liquid bulk products, such as unleaded petrol and diesel.
